Schoolhouse Doors

This converted schoolhouse is on the rural outskirts of Collingwood, Ontario, probably from the mid 1800s, although I haven’t been able to find information on it yet. Most schools from that era had a door for boys and one for girls, so that’s clearly how this farm school was built. For Norm’s Thursday Doors. See more doors from other bloggers here.

      Hi dennyho. No, I don’t think they were separated inside the classroom, although I don’t know for sure. I think it had more to do with the Victorian mores of giving each gender their own cloakroom to disrobe from the outdoors. Silly stuff but so interesting.
