If we were having coffee, I’d tell you what an experience it is to live full-time in a community that hosts the world’s largest Elvis Festival every summer. Regulars here in Collingwood (a four-seasons resort on Canada’s Georgian Bay) know to shop early, park elsewhere and perhaps even leave the area that weekend.
The main street is lined with booths full of Elvis merchandise, and Elvis lives on everything from motorcycles to attire. We’ve lived here less than 2 years (transplants from the Toronto area) but thought it was time to find out more, so we explored it all this weekend.
We also bought tickets for the Sunday morning Gospel competition. Great show, but I was more taken with the exceptional backup singers (The Tonettes) than the Elvis competitors, good though they were.
